In July 2016, Bridge Renewal Staff, assisted by 3 volunteers, led a group from the Chestnuts Connections and their families on a day out to Southend. After assembling at 8am in the morning, guests were immediately greeted with tea, pastries, water and snacks. They then mounted the coach at 9am, and were off!
Once they arrived at Southend they took advantage of what was a beautiful day. Some strolled on the promenade, some went to the beach and others shopped. They then reassembled at Alfies Authentic Fish and Chips for lunch at 1pm and after eating, those that could move continued the day browsing, while more adventurous ones went on rides in Adventureland.
Everybody finally reassembled at the coach for 4.30 when they headed back to London. Overall it was a very successful day – so much so that there has already been talk of another trip in the near future.
