Community Voting Day 2018 Funding (Deadlines: 25 May 2018 / 15 June 2018)
Maximum value: £5,000
What is the Community Voting Day
Haringey Council received the Estate Regeneration Fund from the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government in 2017. Out of this fund, the Council created a Community Fund to help improve the lives of people living in Northumberland Park and Broadwater Farm.
Last year, Haringey ran their first Community Voting Day event on Northumberland Park using Participatory Budgeting (PB) to help allocate funds for activity. In March 2017, 16 organisations delivered a variety of programmes in the Northumberland Park Ward, some of which are still running.
In PB local people are given the opportunity to have a democratic say in the allocation of public grant funding. PB allows residents to identify, discuss, and prioritise spending, which gives residents power to vote on projects that are important to them. Local people set the criteria for the Community Fund, and residents get to vote at each Community Voting Day to decide on how the money is spent.
Haringey Council invites individuals and organisations to submit applications addressing the priorities already identified by residents across both estates: to improve access to employment opportunities, to improve residents skills levels, to improve community safety and to empower residents to develop and deliver projects that they want to see on their estates.
This year, the Community Fund covers both Northumberland Park and Broadwater Farm and offers grants from £500 to £5000 for projects and activities that meet the defined criteria.
All applicants who meet the defined criteria and all due diligence /requirements will be put forward for the Community Voting Day and local residents will make the final decision.
