Haringey Community Expo 2017 #HaringeyExpo

The Bridge Renewal Trust, in partnership with The London Borough of Haringey, is pleased to formally invite you to the celebration of the outstanding work and achievements of Haringey’s community groups and voluntary organisations which will be showcased in our second Haringey Voluntary and Community Sector Expo on Friday, 24 November 2017 at Tottenham Town Hall, Town Hall Approach Road, London N17 4RY. 

 

This annual event will be attended by members of the public and partner organisations from the voluntary, public and private sectors. There will be a mix of activities including exhibition stalls, panel discussions and awards to recognise a variety of achievements.

 

In particular, we would like to invite you to take part in a workshop delivered by London Sport, panel discussions on Community Safety (focus on knife crime) and Local Giving in Haringey and the Community Impact Awards Ceremony.

Exhibitions, 11am – 4pm

The exhibitions will involve displays and stalls in the main hall demonstrating the wide range of community services and activities and visitors can have taster sessions and/or register for them.

 

Workshop, 11.30am – 12pm 

London Sport: Why Physical Activity Matters and how you can get Involved with Minimum Effort  

 

This workshop is aimed at voluntary and community groups who deliver, or who are looking to start delivering, work on physical activity or sport, with practical examples and information from London Sport.

 

The session will cover:

  • What physical activity does, that’s not just ‘helping you be more active’
  • Where to start, choosing the right activity, how it will be delivered (and how to it will continue)
  • How to cover come capacity and resource issues and still offer physical activity

Panel discussions, 1pm – 3.15pm

The panel discussions in the side hall will give visitors an opportunity to hear from local experts and decision makers on two topics that local people are keen to address:

 

1) Community Safety (focus on knife crime), 1pm – 2pm: 

An opportunity to hear from and ask questions to local experts and decision makers on Community Safety in Haringey.

 

Panel members include:

  • Cllr Eugene Ayisi – Cabinet Member for Communities
  • Haringey Borough Commander Helen Millichap – Metropolitan Police Service
  • Yvonne Lawson –  Founder and CEO of the Godwin Lawson Foundation.

2) Haringey Giving, 2.15pm – 3.15pm:

Discussion focusing on priority community needs, community and business  engagement to raise awareness, money, time and talent for local good causes.

  • Matt Sparkes – Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Linklaters LLP,
  • Moaz Nanjuwany – Tottenham Traders Partnership
  • Gail Priddy – Chief Executive Officer of HAGA

Community Impact Awards Ceremony, 3.15pm – 3.45pm

The day will end with an awards ceremony to recognise the outstanding work and achievements of residents, community groups and voluntary organisations that have made a difference to the lives of Haringey residents.
